Kathmandu: Chaos in Harmony

Sudhan Subedi

This is Kathmandu, a city full of life: the beating heart of life can be found on every street and alley of the metropolis. Kathmandu is a shelter for all—a bonanza where dreams and tales intertwine. From every corner of Durbar Squares to every inch of the bustling Ason markets, Kathmandu supports culture, tradition and ambition. It does so in a complex and effortless way that rings together a jumble of noise, temple sounds and the sight of prayer flags – all elements of beauty that seem to go seamlessly within the spaces created by man.

Yet, among this chaos, one fact is beyond discourse: this city is more than a space for chaos, and it must be cared for so it provides space for everyone. Imagine streets with trees and no noise, rivers so clean they reflect our smiles and skies so clear we can see without clouds. A city where history is cherished, invention is rampant, and noise complements the calmness by stunning nature.

Kathmandu is not just a city; it a living, breathing, historical storyteller full of hopes. The fight that we face however isn’t to tame the chaos. It’s to love the chaos and direct it into a space that allows humanity, animals and nature itself to all fit into an environment. Let us then imagine and build this shelter to be one that will give air and beauty to those who inhabit it in the future.

The Quiet Bond

Wasim Barelvi

He doesn’t come to my house, I don’t go to his
Yet, distance doesn’t make our bond amiss.
Good or bad, all ties remain,
None leaves this world with more to gain.

In the hands of TV, what has become
Of homes where once fathers led their sons?
No child now follows in their stride,
A fading lineage, once full of pride.

A hundred doors opened, yet held by care,
Where would I roam, if not to return there?
These tears of love, let them quietly stay—
The secrets of the noble, in silence lay.

Tell him, ‘Wasim,’ this world is small,
Whoever enters my door, returns no call.
For once within, they no longer stray,
No wandering heart will drift away.

The Night of Excuses

Sudhan Subedi

A Friday night call came from a friend,
But two replies outright condemned.
One claimed urgency, a crisis at max,
The other excused with commitments that stacked.

No typsy evening of laughter and fun,
No chit-chat beneath both moon and sun.

Yet, fate had plans of its own to make,
For that evening, the two would partake.
One held a bag brimming with tomatoes,
The other bore potatoes, heavy as halos.

They shared a smile, knowing the game,
The creative excuses, all the same.
A hint of duty in the air,
For home-cooked meals they’d prepare.

Vegetables won, over barroom snacks,
Responsibilities, no turning back.

Friday Full

Life is full of daily routines and small tasks—often referred to as the “daily grind” or “daily chores.” These activities, while sometimes mundane, are the backbone of our existence. They provide structure and a sense of normalcy, anchoring us in the present.

When you say, “life around daily chores is wow,” it reflects an appreciation for the beauty in these everyday moments. There’s a certain magic in the simplicity of daily life, where each task—whether it’s making breakfast, walking the dog, or tidying up—has its own rhythm and significance. These activities might seem ordinary, but they are filled with life and movement. They sparkle with the potential for small joys, like the satisfaction of a clean space, the warmth of a cooked meal, or the peace of a quiet evening.

The routine itself can be comforting, a reminder that even in a world of constant change, there are things we can rely on. It’s the flow of these small, consistent actions that create the larger tapestry of our lives. And within this flow, there’s a rhythm that can be quite beautiful when we take the time to notice it. Each moment, each task, contributes to the whole, making life a series of sparkling moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Illness to Wellness: Overcoming Constipation

Sudhan Subedi @tweetsudhan

Things seemed fine,
Pace appeared steady,
Satisfactory discharge,
Health not too bad.

One fine day,
Doctor diagnosed constipation,
What was once okay looked fishy,
Pace observed fine was not so.

Discharge minimal,
Efforts larger than life,
Health teetering on the edge,
Moving with a constipated body became routine.

From afar, no trace of a problem,
To an experienced doctor’s eye,
Things were not at par,
Health at stake.

A constipated body, a preoccupation,
With a recommended lifestyle,
Things started falling into place with pace.

Life now infused with zeal,
Once okay proved not to be,
As at the end of the movie,
Things came to a happy end.

Echoes Across Decades: A Stage Unchanged

Sudhan Subedi

In a realm where decades dance, change unfurls,
Power scatters, the ordinary in decision whirls.
The stage, unyielding, holds its curtain tight,
As ordinary souls shape the script of the night.

Creative diaspora leaps past television’s squares,
YouTube’s dawn, and more, ascent in pairs.
Yet, here on this stage, a familiar encore,
In my hand, a mike, as memories implore.

A school day’s cultural echo, the mike was mine,
Announcing, orchestrating, making moments shine.
Three decades hence, in the parent’s embrace,
I sit, watching children on this timeless space.

Same stage, same curtain, clock at its height,
Roles have pivoted, yet the ground feels right.
The rhythm of time, an unyielding decree,
In the auditorium of life, where moments agree.

Unmasking the Digital Mirage

Sudhan Subedi @tweetsudhan

Friends’ dog is ill, a solemn sigh,
While another finds love in the sky.
Flying on a holiday so high,
New job and dreams, reaching for the sky.

Broken people, hearts entwined,
Bones that fracture, souls maligned.
In this tapestry of life we bind,
Through every trial, we’re designed.

Issues hitting us like waves that churn,
A war within, we must discern.
Forget the battles that made us yearn,
For peace and love, let’s take our turn.

In this age of screens, so bright,
Social media’s endless fight.
Killing time with every byte,
Let’s seek connections that feel right.

Silent Heroes: Beyond the Glossy Report

Sudhan Subedi @tweetsudhan

In the glossy report’s gleaming pages so fair,
People with beaming smiles pose with grace to share,
Great write-ups, names etched with bold acclaim,
In this tale of unwavering commitment, they’ve found their fame.

A saga of heroism, a tribute to leadership so bright,
Yet, it doesn’t capture the sweat and blood, hidden from sight.
For those in the background, toiling in silence’s shroud,
No fuss, no buzz, they remain hidden from the crowd.
